Cucumber Hogay- a traditional cold dish
From the few cold dishes in the bhutanese cuisine, Cucumber Hogay tops the list. This typical cold dish is not just enjoyed at home, but one comes across it very often at get togethers/events, under salad menu in restaurants etc.
How do we enjoy it in Bhutan? As a snack, or as a side dish to a regular meal, or as "Chang-pa"(as a relish with Ara (local alcoholic drink) or any other alcoholic drinks).
Ingrediens;
200 gr. Cucumber
2 cherry tomatoes
1 small onion
1-3 Chillies (optional)
40-50 gr. Feta Cheese
Salt & Bhutanese Pepper aka Sichuan Pepper
Wash/rinse the ingredients. Half the cucumber length wise and then cut into slices, do the same with onion and chillies and dice the tomatoes. Transfer all into a bowl, sprinkle in cheese, salt and pepper. Mix the ingredients gently to combine and serve.
