Beans and beef with cheese / Bohnen und Rindfleisch mit Käse
"Sem-chum shakam Datsi" directly translated means Beans and dried beef with cheese. A popular stew with small pieces of dried beef and rich cheesy broth. It is also cooked without cheese sometimes.
This combination of beef and beans is also used to make "Beef Paa". Only the vegetables and beef are bigger in size.
I have have used the lean stewing beef again, but i am definitely going for more fatty beef next time.
100 gr. green Beans
100 gr. lean beef
1-2 Tbsp Oil
2 chillies/ 1/2 tsp chilli powder
1 tomato (optional)
200+60 ml water
30 gr. Feta Cheese
1. Wash the beef, pat dry and cut into small pieces. Wash the tomato and cut into slices. Throw them in a pot, add 200 ml water, oil, and salt. Bring to boil, cover and cook slowly over a medium low heat for about 15 minutes.
2. Meanwhile, wash and cut the beans (approx. 4 cm long) and chillies as shown in the picture above.
3. Throw in the beans, cover and cook for about 8 minutes. Add 60 ml water, chillies and cheese and continue cooking for about 5 more minutes.
4. Reduce the flame to minimum, stir and adjust salt. Turn off the heat and Serve hot.
