Radish and Beef stew / Rettich und Rindfleisch Eintopf
One more popular radish dish (Laphu Tsoem) that is often on our menu at home is radish cooked with small pieces of dried beef (Sha-kam). I love this delicious stew and i bet the other bhutanese do too.
Chunks of stewing beef was my substitute for dried beef. I am sure fatty cuts of beef would be good too.
Ingredients
200 gr. Radish
100 gr. lean Beef
3 Tbsp. Oil
200+ 60 ml Water
1/2 Tsp. Chilli powder
2 cm Ginger
Makes 1 Serving
1. Wash the beef, pat dry and cut into dices. In a pot, throw in beef, add in water (200 ml), oil and salt. Bring to a boil, cover and cook slowly on a low medium heat for 15 minutes.
2. Peel, wash and cut the radish into sticks (as shown in the picture). Peel the ginger and crush using mortar and pestle or finely chop it.
3. Throw in radish, cover and cook further for 10 minutes. Stir gently, pour in 60 ml water, continue cooking for 3-5 minutes.
